Description: This is a very amazing petrified agatized wood limb / tree branch or trunk specimen which was collected from the Green River formation from the ancient now extinct Lake Gosiute in the Eden Valley area, Sweetwater County, Wyoming. This gorgeous specimen has been cut and polished on one end and has beautiful botryoidal agate, a touch of persevered bark around the lower half of the polished face and an area of petrified algae and cyanobacteria growth matrix also called stromatolitic carbonate coating as described in Mustoe & Viney's research papers. Most rockhounds just say petrified algae. This piece displays standing upright on the polished face or laying on its side and it measures 8 inches long by 3.70 inches wide and weighs 3 pounds 10 ounces.
