Description: This is a very amazing petrified agatized wood limb / tree branch or trunk specimen which was collected from the Green River formation from the ancient now extinct Lake Gosiute in the Eden Valley area, Sweetwater County, Wyoming. This gorgeous specimen has been cut and polished on one end and has beautiful botryoidal agate, a touch of persevered bark in an area around the polished face and a slight bit of petrified algae and cyanobacteria growth matrix also called stromatolitic carbonate coating as described in Mustoe & Viney's research papers. Most rockhounds just say petrified algae. This piece displays laying on its side and it measures 5.41 inches long by 3 inches wide and weighs 1 pound 13 ounces.
