Description: From an estate: a vintage wood carved pair of busts, believed to be a man and woman. A label affixed on the back of one of the carvings reads: "Benin, Nigeria. Rare Native Carving. Museum #139 PP 34. Macassar Ebony." One of the busts has a partially attached label--they are both as-found. Exact vintage and origins unknown. Both busts are in excellent condition. Our online research indicates that Macassar ebony, an exotic hardwood, is similar but different from African ebony. The grains in Macassar ebony create greater contrast between the blacks and browns. The busts measure approximately 8.5" tall, 6" wide, 4" deep. I invite you to peruse our store to see if you might find more items to purchase. Ask about combined shipping!
