VTG Indo-Islamic Chased Brass HOOKAH BASE ASSYRIAN REVIVAL EUC

Description: Intricate repoussé work in the HTF Assyrian Revival style distinguishes this striking brass hookah base. Large ( 9 1/2") piece is a rare example of a little -documented culture. Distinctively illustrated, it is a beautiful collectible in its own right, or you can choose to have it refitted and made functional. Many find these lovely repurposed as vases. ( they're obviously watertight!) The clean, glowing brass piece is in EUC. The only conditional issues I find are two minor dents and a small area of finish loss, as shown in the photos. I have seen this listed as antique, but my suspicion is this is a newer, twentieth century piece. Whatever its age, it is rich in history, narrative and artistry, and will elevate any Indian, Islamic or Asian-themed collection or display.
