Description: This listing is for a vintage black Japanese robe/kimono with floral embroidery and belt/tie. To the best of my knowledge, my grandfather brought this back from Japan when he completed his service in the U.S. Navy at the end of WWII. The robe was shortened (adjusted hem is clearly visible) and a snap was added to the front by my grandmother. I don't believe that the material is silk – it feels like it is probably polyester – but I have found no tag to indicate fabric type. Over the years, the stitching under the arms deteriorated and the seams have come apart, but the embroidery is still nice and I believe it could be cut down and for use in a sewing or craft project such as a bag, pillow, quilt, etc. Please see all photos and ask if you have any questions – all inquiries welcome!
