Description: This vintage wall plaque is a stunning and colorful depiction of The Pentecost. The image shows the Virgin praying over the open book before her. To her left sits St Peter, and St John the Evangelist kneels at the right of her. Various religious leaders look on as the Holy Spirit descends upon them in the form of a white dove. The original painting was done by Simon Bening (1483-1561), who was a master of illumination during the Renaissance period. The wood plaque is beautifully trimmed with gold gilding. There is a small gold metal loop on the back for hanging. It measures approximately 8.25"x5.75" and weighs 4.7 oz. In very nice condition, there are just a few small areas of wear to the finish.
