Description: This is a vintage cotton bag, which was probably used for a sewing bag since the embroidered design reads: "A Stitch in time saves nine" and there is a spool of thread, threaded needle and thimble on it. It is similar to a laundry bag though and could have been used for that purpose as well. The bag measures approximately 16 1/2" long and 13" wide. The body of the bag is heavy muslin (or a sack) and there is a 3" wide band at the top that is made of solid purple fabric. The lining for the purple band is solid orange fabric on the inside. The drawstring looks to be made of yellow elastic, but if it is elastic is has no longer has any stretch. It could also be some type of flat yellow cord that was pressed in half. It is approximately 1/4" wide. The stitching is well done as is the construction of the bag itself. The drawstring is not really functional anymore. There is a rip in the casing on one side, but other than that, I do not see any holes or tears anywhere else. There is some light staining around the bottom and side edges, but I do not find it distracting.
