Description: Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a vintage 1960's era Electro Voice 676 Dynamic Cardioid microphone with the adjustable bass setting / drop off switch, mic clip and short cable in which to operate. This example is not perfect by any means but she's a pretty decent specimen overall and sounds like new. The 676 also came with a lower built in pistol grip which was rebadged as the 674 model. The 676 & 674 sound identical and are only different in that the 674 had the on / off switch built into the lower pistol grip. Pic # 2 shows this very mic as well as several others in an old E.V catalog. This was an ideal mic for singing and broadcasting and gave the user extra length to work with once mounted. This 676 was the same model mic that Jim Morrison from the Doors used. One of his favorite go to mics. The 676 was only sold for about 15 years before being discontinued but it's still one of the most desirable model mics from the 1960's and 70's have a very smooth tone. This mic is actually set at low Z but wired High Z with the cable provided. The 676 will give you decent bass but this mic also has the bass drop off lever on the bottom of the handle allowing you to adjust the tone of the mic easily. Again, it's 100% signal strength and has zero issues. This microphone came in both the polished chrome body as well as the painted body and as you can see in the pics provided that it has very lite cosmetic flaws. There is just a few scuff marks and tiny scratches on the chrome finish but zero engravings, dents or fractures. The mic is solid and I'd rate it a true 7 on a scale of 1 - 10. The front screen has slight deformation and there is some side grill missing from being used over the years. There are no odors and zero tarnish however. Even the E.V badge looks pretty good with a minimum of wear. I added a new inner pop filter as the original was all but degraded. This older mic takes a unique 4 pin screw on cable that is included. It's appx 8 feet long and in excellent condition being very soft, pliable and has a male Switchcraft 1/4 inch end connector. Great for use with audio equipment that is closer to where you are sitting. The aftermarket model mic clip is in great shape and grips the mic nicely. It tilts accordingly and tension is adjustable via side screw. A great match and looks very good with the mic as well. If you demand an excellent working 676 then this will certainly not disappoint.
