Description: Offered for sale is an exquisitely high-quality Antique German China head doll created during the 1860’s decade. She measures 19” tall and is on perfect condition with no flaws, damage, or repairs. Many of these beautiful dolls are unmarked, as she is, but her quality is evident and it seems that no fancy detail is as spared in her modeling or her decoration. A slight pink tint and blushed cheeks combined with the softness of her painted details make her look like a watercolor painting; she looks so real! She displays a very important consideration when choosing a high-quality doll, and that is her sharp modeling which appears to have that “first-out-of-the-mold” definition. Blue painted eyes with an upward gaze, black lined eyeliner above her eyes, with a soft red eyelid line, single stroke cafe’-au-lait brows, circular nostril dots and inner eye corners, and a slightly smiling closed mouth with a line between her closed lips accentuate her beauty. Her molded light blonde hair is in puffed waves brushed away from her forehead, and held back by a modelled hairband across the top of her head that ends in two large white bows on either side of her face. The back continues to feature the fancy black molded & open weave snood with a black “velvet” vertical line down the back of the snood, a half-moon circle where it attached to the white hair band, and further depiction of the snood details with a thick black line at the base of her neck showing how the snood is worn by ladies of this time period to confine and beautify their hairstyle. She only has one tiny spot of wear to the black vertical line at the back. Her cloth body is in excellent condition and i believe is her original body. She has the narrow waist and wide hips seen in original doll bodies of this period, and includes individually stitched fingers. Her antique undergarments feature a chemise, pantalettes with narrow trim, textured stockings, and a wool petticoat with feather-stitching that has some nothing. Her gown is exceptionally rich and fine and fits her perfectly. It is both hand- and machine-sewn in a luscious, stiff brocade fabric with embroidered polychrome florals in shades of wine, rose, sage, gold, and mauve with an underlying stripe pattern. The antique gown is perfect for her and in the style of gowns of the 1860’s period. A pair of worn leather shoes complete her look. She is display ready. Please message me with any questions you might have, or if there is something g important to you that I may have forgotten to mention. Please view all the pics as they are part of the description. I want everyone to be happy with their purchases from me! Thank you for checking out my auctions and I hope you will save me as a favorite seller. I’ve been collecting and selling antique dolls since 1990 and I pack very, very carefully. I’ve also collected early antique clothing and accessories since the 1980s so I’ll be listing a variety of antiques besides antique dolls. Blessings, Michelle
