Based in Kolomyia and part of Operational Command West, the brigade has a history of defending their country in various conflicts, including the war in Donbas in 2016 and the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. During these conflicts, the brigade, defended Marinka, Popasna, Mariupol and Bakhmut. During the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the brigade is reported to have taken part in the defense of the country and engaged in battles around Mariupol in February 2022 and Bakhmut in December 2022. By Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 80/2023 dated January 14, 2023, the brigade was given the honorary name "Edelweiss". Its emblem depicts the contours of three mountains — Hoverla, Brebeneskul and Pip Ivan — in white outline. At the base of the emblem is a mountain flower edelweiss, and behind it are two crossed hatchets (these are the axes used by Hutsuls, Boiks and Lemks). Edelweiss symbolizes courage and bravery.There is a hard Velcro on the back of patches (chevrons). This will help to fix the chevron on a military uniform, other clothes, a backpack, a baseball cap and other tactical products, where there is a place for such an accessory (soft Velcro). Thanks to it, if necessary, the patch (chevron) can be easily removed and moved to a new place.
