Description: Travels Through Syria and Egypt in the years 1783, 1784, and 1785 - M. C. Volney. This two volume set was published in 1788 and is the 2nd edition. Both books are in excellent condition with a tight spine and all pages securely attached. The gold gilt on the spine is probably 90% intact. The leather is smooth and not cracked or worn anywhere I can see. The maps are loose and have some small rips and creases around the edges. One of the foldout plates has a 3” rip (see photo). The glue has bled through the first page or two. There is light foxing throughout both books. There is a bookplate glued to the inside front cover of both volumes and the owner’s name is written in ink on the title pages. Let me know if you have any questions or need additional information.
