Thank you for supporting our libraries and have a great weekend. John Robinson Jeffers (January 10, 1887 – January 20, 1962) was an American poet known for his work about the central California coast. Much of Jeffers' poetry was written in narrative and epic form. However, he is also known for his shorter verse and is considered an icon of the environmental movement. He was one of the most controversial poets of the twentieth century. In this volume, essential poems from his major works provide an overview of Jeffers's style and the themes present throughout his work, among them Roan Stallion; Give Your Heart to the Hawks and Tamar and Other Poems. Jeffers stands as a crucial precursor to contemporary attempts to rethink our practical, ethical and spiritual obligations to the natural world and the environment.
