Description: Stunning 1990s Iittala Timo Sarpaneva Marcel Vase Frosted & Clear Glass 7.25" VG Description From Iittala Crystal of Finland, a stunning 7 1/4" high mid-century modern frosted and clear glass Marcel vase designed by Timo Sarpaneva. Timo Sarpaneva designed the Marcel vase in 1993 as a flower vase to decorate Finland´s President`s new residency, Mäntyniemi. The interesting shape resembles a large hat with a titlted brim. Iittala planned to produce only 500 vases, but because of Marcel's popularity, continued making them for five years (1992-1998). The vase is handmade, mouth blown into mold. Sarpaneva named the vase Marcel to honor French painter Marcel Duchamp. This piece is in very good condition. No chips. cracks, or water damage. Has some marks on ther very bottom where it rests.
