Description: ST. PAUL (1895) She was built by Wm. Cramp & Sons ShIpbuilding, Philadelphia, Pa as a 11,629 GT ship with dimensions of 535'x63'. Twin-scew, 21 knots, quadruple expansion engines, two masts and two funnels. She had passenger accommodations for 220 first, 220 second and 800 third. Maiden voyage New York-Southampton Oct. 9, 1895. Served as auxiliary cruiser during Spanish American War. As the US Transport KNOXVILLE during WW 1 she capsized April 1918 alongside a New York pier. Refloated and reconditioned for trans-Atlantic service. Made her re-entry New York-Cherbourg-Southampton run route in March 1920. Scrapped in Germany in 1923. Sister ship of the ST.
