Description: Sly and the Family Stone was an American funk band formed in San Francisco, California in 1966 and active until 1983. They are considered to be pivotal in the development of funk, soul,R&B, rock and psychedelic music. Their core line-up was led by singer-songwriter, record producer, and multi-instrumentalist Sly Stone, and included Stone's brother and singer/guitarist Freddie Stone, sister and singer/keyboardist Rose Stone, trumpeter Cynthia Robinson, drummer Greg Errico, saxophonist Jerry Martini, and bassist Larry Graham. The band was the first major American rock group to have a racially integrated, mixed-gender lineup. Per Wikipedia, Fresh is the group's sixth album, released by Epic/CBS Records in June 1973. Written and produced by Sly Stone over two years, Fresh has been described as a lighter and more accessible take on the dense, drum maachine-driven sound of its landmark 1971 predecessor There's A Riot Goin' On. It was the band's final album to reach the US Top 10, entering the Billboard Album Chart on June 30, and their last of three consecutive number-one albums on the R&B chart. In 2003, the album was ranked number 186 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. The album up for bid is a 1973 release on the Epic Record label and was a first pressing by Columbia Record’s Terre Haute pressing facility. It consists of 11 tracks with a run time of 39+ minutes. The cover is in VG/VG+ condition. There is very little wear along the edges and corners. The front cover is clean, except for what appears as a small stain in the lower left corner and mild disc wear on the back cover and corresponding stain on the lower right corner (see photos). The back cover also includes track listings. The photo artwork and graphics are sharp with no discoloration. The heavy paper sleeve is original and in VG+ condition. Each sleeve cover includes track listings with lyrics along with a photo on each side. The recording has been cleaned, tested and recorded using Audacity. All tracks are free of skips and there is mild background noise that consists of “clicks” that do not impact on the music. On testing, I detected a single “click” on Side 1, track 1(In Time) and 2 mild “clicks” on Side 2, track 1 I Don’t Know (Satisfaction). The sound is clean and strong and the disc surfaces show only mild wear with no visable scratches or scuffs. I always clean, listen and test every record I list on EBAY. I do this in insure that I can give as accurate a description for each album I list. I also try to follow the Goldmine standards on grading records. I do this as a service to the buyer, as well as, to maintain my own reputation. If you have any question or concern regarding an item, feel free to contact me.
