Description: Roman Imperial, dupondius of Hadrian, 117 A.D.-138 A.D., Sear 1131, R.I.C. 605, 26-27 mm. 8.6 gm. The obverse shows the radiate head of Hadrian, to the right. The obverse legend shows " IMP. CAESAR TRAIANVS HADRIANVS AVG. P. M. T. R. P. COS. III". The reverse shows the legend " VIRTVTI AVGVSTI S. C. ". and shows Virtus standing right, holding a spear and parazonium. On the obverse in front of and behind the portrait of Hadrian, is a small patch of dark red accretion. The obverse and reverse, otherwise, are mostly dark brown tone, with the raised design features being the lighter, more toned brass/bronze color.
