Description: This is a substitute for the main power switch in your SB220 or SB221 amateur linear amplifier. The original switch was made by McGill, and is a stout design. It will last for decades before it wears out. But considering that the newest SB-220 amplifier you can have is now OVER 40 years old, it turns out the power switch goes bad sometimes. An identical replacement is no longer made, best I can tell. The switch you see in the pics is cosmetically ALMOST the same. The rocker is narrower. There is no manufacturer's name on it anywhere, only the Underwriters Labs mark and the rating of 20 Amps at 277 VAC. The mounting ears are not bent forwards like the original. We supply longer screws and a bushing to position this switch properly where it needs to be mounted. Yeah, we had to modify it slightly. The original mount holes don't quite line up. Punching the hole to become a slot took care of this. Yes, you'll have to take the amplifier's front panel loose to expose the screw heads of the old mount screws. You don't need a picture from me showing how to remove three knobs, a half-inch bushing nut and a screw/nut at each of four corners. Or to put them back, for that matter. JUST BE VERY NICE TO THE WIRES THAT CONNECT THE FRONT PANEL TO THE AMPLIFIER. They tend to be fragile. The lockwashers frequently go astray when doing this, so we provide new nuts for the four corners of the front panel. The new nuts have captive lockwashers, so they can't get lost as easily. The bushings we provide to space the mounting ears away from the inside of the front panel are threaded. Since the sloped shoulder of the new, longer flat-head mount screws will interfere with the thread in this bushing, we supply a flat washer. It goes between the bushing and the inside of the chassis and allows the bushing to be properly tightened down. The pics should tell the rest of the story just fine. If you need to copy and save them for later, do it now. This listing will only be up until we run out of these. FOR NOW THERE IS *NO* PDF FILE, OR WEB PAGE OR "HOW-TO" VIDEO. If you can't replace a switch without someone to hold your hand, it's time you consult someone with more experience, AND A BETTER CHANCE OF SURVIVING THE INSTALLATION PROJECT! This part is being sold with the expectation that the buyer has the skills AND SAFETY TRAINING to perform this repair. Please don't undertake it hoping for free tech support later on. Homey don't play dat. THIS IS NOT A GOOD "FIRST" PROJECT OF THIS SORT. THERE ARE INCREDIBLY LETHAL VOLTAGES FOUND IN THIS AMPLIFIER. IF YOU LACK THE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED TO DO THIS SAFELY, FIND SOMEONE QUALIFIED. PLEASE. THE LIFE YOU SAVE MAY BE YOUR OWN.
