Description: Description: An unopened paper model kit, "Elephant with Nodding Head" by Peter Markey. Goodison noted "Elephant with Nodding Head, the head and neck are finely balanced and nod to right and left." Peter Markey (1930-2016) was one of the most well known members of the group of automata makers based in Falmouth, Cornwall, England. This piece was part of the collection of automata and moving toys owned by Sir Nicholas Goodison, I have included some information about him below. Sir Nicholas Goodison (1934-2021) was a true polymath, as well as having a highly successful career in the financial industry he was also a leading figure in and patron of the Arts. He amassed his collection of sculpture and toys over a 50 year period whilst travelling the world. Identifying Marks / Makers Marks: Has copyright "Peter Markey" printed on the card. Age / date of manufacture:Purchased from Peter Markey at the British Toymakers' Guild Exhibition, Chelsea, London in January 1996. Size: The kit sheets measure 25cm (9 5/8") x 17cm (6 5/8"). Condition: Complete and unopened. There is an item number written in pen on the plastic sleeve, this is not on the paper model kit. Please see the photographs.
