The caps they originally used were not the highest quality so could be noisy to begin with, fail over time, and have a limited expected lifespan of only 10 years. If the amp is left to sit for long periods, that can actually be harder on those caps and decrease their life. These amps are not hard to open up and access, so it's not a terrible job to accomplish. Note that the instructions for this kit is for the Peavey Classic 20 that was built for a couple of decades, not for the newest Classic 20 II that has the entire circuit on one board being built today. If you're not sure how to identify it, message me, and I'll give you instructions. It doesn't matter if you have the head or the combo, they have the same circuit board. You'll get a complete set of the large electrolytic capacitors of the highest quality available. 3 22uf, 2 47 uf, and 2 2200 caps. The 5 filter caps are F&T German caps. I have compared these side by side with everything out there, and these are by far the tightest spec, lowest ESR, lowest leakage caps available for guitar amps. I have never had one fail, never had one produce the tiniest bit of hum. The 2200uf caps are high quality name-brand caps, the best I could find in this value (they're pretty uncommon, so not all the manufacturers produce them). You get a pair of film caps to cure a safety issue in these amps. You'll also get a set of instructions to help you complete the replacement job.
