Description: Passing Wind is a collection of Native American Style Flute Solos. The first nine songs were done at the Mohican Outdoor School. It was originally just supposed to be a practice session, to get ready for a concert I was giving at the Mohican Lodge later that day. But within a few minutes of me starting to play a crowd gathered, and before I was finished there more than forty people that had come near to hear me play. Although this CD is live, and has a flute as the only instrument, in the first nine songs a host of crickets, birds and other animals, lend their voices in an unobtrusive way to make the music more natural, in the perfect surroundings of nature. The last eleven songs were recorded in a relaxed setting without background sounds, so the flute could be heard alone in all its beauty. All the songs recorded on this recording are songs that I have made over the years, and I am glad to finally be able to offer them to everyone. Included with the CD is the story of how the concert went. It is a good story, and is one of my fond memories. Many years ago I was gifted with a CD that had a Native American flute recorded on it. The wife and I took it camping with us many times. There were no drums, or guitars accompanying that flute. It was alone, but the fullness of the music produced by that flute filled our evenings with joy. It had the ability to add a flavor to the surrounding woods that seemed to have been lost. I remember quite a few times people who had camped near us would ask us if it was a recording, or if someone had been playing. We could always see the disappointment in their eyes when we would say it was a recording. Then they would always say it had been wonderful to hear the flute. Many of them had never heard a flute in the woods, and for them it was a new experience. To some it is an experience that is intense, and fires the mind, and to others it is like a voice saying through the years ‘Listen to me”. Many times I have tried to find a CD like the one I heard back then in the first days…before I learned to play. But I never did find a CD that was like that one. In a remembrance of that memory I offer this recording so that others can hear the flute in all its beauty without other instruments, in the hope that you too might hear a voice from the past saying, “Listen to me.” These are un-named practice songs that I did in the woodsin front of a group: 090905-001 2.53 min. 090905-002 1.32 min. 090905-003 1.34 min. 090905-004 1.32 min. 090905-005 0.51 min. 090905-006 3.34 min. 090905-007 2.08 min. 090905-009 2.22 min. 090905-000 5.47 min.
