Description: Perhaps Italian, circa 1790 - 1890 Pair of cast brass single burner Lucerne oil lamps. The lamps are supported by an adjustable sliding brass knob on a brass rod threaded to a scalloped edge base with standing rim, drip pan, and topped with a hand threaded brass finial. Each has a single spout with fourwick implements, (scissors, snuffer, tweezers, and cleaning pick) suspended on brass link chains. One font is removable from the stand with a curved brass handle with animal head terminal. But the other is firmly set. I don't know if it would come apart with some patience & elbow grease, but I don't want to force it. The lamps are in good original condition. The surfaces have been cleaned but not polished, and have a lovely original patina to them. Wear commensurate with age and use. Please see photos for a more detailed description of condition.
