Description: This is a pair of Japanese Meiji era (or possibly Taisho) plates with hand painted birds.Each is signed on the base "made by Sato". +One plate depicts a pair of cranes and the other a group of sparrow type birds.The crane plate is perfect--no cracks or chips. The sparrow plate has a faint surface spider crack in the glaze on the back that does not extend through to the top surface and so is not visible on display or in use. (barely visible in photo #6)Iron red trim with gold accentsEach plate is about about 7-1/2 inches in diameter.
