Description: 1943 Polar Crossing Diploma and Service Set for a German WWII SailorAll three pieces belong to the same sailor from 1943, 1936, and 1937.The polar certificates were handed over to each crew member on the occasion of the first crossing of the Arctic Circle during a ceremony. This set includes a polar certificate from 1943 and two service documents for the sailor during his service for the shipping company Hamburg Süd; Hamburg Süd had shipping lines to South America.All three documents show signs of handling, yellowing, light staining, and light water damage on the 1937 document. There are some folded corners, fold lines, and a small tear along a fold line on the polar certificate.The polar certificate is approximately 12 3/16" x 9 1/16".The smaller certificates are approximately 8 1/2" x 5 1/2".FREE SHIPPING TO US AND CANADA.
