Description: An original, antique, copper-plate engraved view and map of Messenia in ancient Greece. The map is by Barbie de Bocage and was used in the 'Travels of Anacharsis the Younger in Greece'. The map is dated 1786 but this example was published in the 1796 edition of the 'Travels of Anacharsis'. The map area measures approximately 222mm x 193mm with small margins beyond, blank verso. Condition report: Very good condition. Light age toning. One small pin-prick sized hole to the right margin, not affecting the map. Two folds as published. Please study the photographs carefully to fully appreciate the condition.
