Old RARE Royal Copenhagen Purple Fluted Custard Cup 2/64 1stQ pre1923 **w repair

Description: Here is an Antique Royal Copenhagen Purple Fluted Custard Cup w Lid, Number 2/64. This is a rare, special and stunning piece. The 'kremekopp' has wonderful mussel-painted overglaze decorations in the rare, sought-after royal purple or 'purpur' color. The work of painter number 22 is spectacular. There is also gold gilt decoration on the piece. The custard cup and lid are both factory first quality, made and hand painted in Denmark before 1923. Unfortunately this old piece suffered some damage at some point in its long life. There is a hairline crack that has been repaired, stabilized with a 'pegging' technique using a metal staple, and a nearby shallow rim chip has been filled and partially repainted. These repairs look very good in my opinion. The damaged/repaired area on the cup is contained, relatively small and discrete. The cup is functional and displays very well. Please examine all the photos, The lid of the custard cup is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The cup measures approximately 3 1/2 inches tall, including its lid, with a ~2 3/8 rim diameter.
