Description: NEWFOUNDLAND 92A 1910 6c CLARET LORD BACON Z NORMAL JOHN GUY ISSUE MPH VF CV$80 Please read the TERMS OF SALE below prior to bidding. BID WITH CONFIDENCE - SATISFACTION GUARANTEED NEWFOUNDLAND 92A 1910 6c CLARET LORD BACON Z NORMAL JOHN GUY ISSUE MPH VF CV$80 Six cent, claret, portrait of Francis Bacon, Baron (Lord) Verulum, stamp from the John Guy issue of 1910, lithographed, no watermark*, line perf. 12.0x12.0. Excellent color and appearance, well centered within fairly well balanced margins. Approximately 30% of original gum disturbed by previous hinging, hinge remnant. Very good, fault-free example of this stamp. Stamp shown is a good representative of those that are available. If the stamp received fails to meet expectations, it may be returned for a replacement or full refund. Type II - "Z" in "COLONIZATION" printed normally (on the plate used to print the initial stamp order, the 'Z' in 'NEWFOUNDLAND' was entered backwards by the engraver. This was corrected for subsequent print orders). Whitehead, Morris and Company Limited of London printed the 1910 Guy issue stamps using lithographic plates provided by MacDonald and Sons, Limited of London. MacDonald and Sons, made the final lithographic plate by using multiple paper transfers of each design from ETCHED dies. This may account in large part for the overall poor quality of the images seen in this issue. Stamps were printed on medium weight and relatively soft, white wove paper with horizontal mesh, white (almost colorless) gum. This issue was produced to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the establishment at Cupers Cove (Cupids) in Conception Bay in 1610 of the second (after Jamestown in 1607) British "Plantation" in North America. Sponsored by the London and Bristol Company of England The actual "planting" of the new colony was supervised by John Guy. * MONCKTON BASTED MILLS KENT or WHITEHEAD MORRIS & Co LTD LONDON SOUTH AFRICA & EGYPT watermarks have been reported on some proofs and stamps (re. Newfoundland Specialized Stamp Catalogue by Walsh and Butt) Images should provide all the information necessary to make a reasonably intelligent bid on this lot. However, if it doesn't live up to your expectations you are always welcome to return it for a full refund - NO QUESTIONS ASKED. My feedback speaks for itself. I am confident that a mutually satisfactory solution can be worked out to any problem that might develop. Please give me a chance to fix something that is not satisfactory to you before leaving negative feedback. Although 3 and 4 star DSR scores may be considered "good" by just about any reasonable standard, they aren't as far as ebay is concerned. Anything but 5 ratings in a seller's DSR score may impact their ability to offer items for sale on ebay. Therefore, having an opportunity to earn your highest rating would be very much appreciated. Thank you for your consideration. TERMS OF SALE SHIPPING/HANDLING/INSURANCE: FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING PAYMENT: payment by PayPal only. Payment is expected within 3 days unless prior arrangements have been made. RETURNS: Unless otherwise noted, any item may be returned within 30 days for a refund of the purchase price - NO QUESTIONS ASKED. Returned items must be received in the same condition as sold. S/H charges will not be refunded unless return is due to seller error in which case buyer will be fully reimbursed for shipping costs both ways. FEEDBACK: Appropriate feedback will always be left upon receipt of payment for each item purchased. Bidder feedback is welcome but never required to receive mine. Placing a bid indicates that you have read and accept the terms of sale. Please don't hesitate to contact me through the "Ask Seller A Question" link on ebay if you have questions concerning a lot. Due to a proliferation of fake ebay email messages, I will not respond to questions sent directly to my email address. Constructive comments and notification of possible oversights or errors in descriptions are always welcome. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST AND GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR BIDS.
