Description: This book was first published in 1914. This is one of those uncommon instances where the later printing (this one being 1937) is much nicer than the original. This publisher produced a wonderful product - covers and spine of a wonderful textured stock, gilt lettering on cover and spine, a beautiful title page and then the superb illustrations, 32 in vivid color, with the B&W photos being great also. This is one of those books that is simply a delight to hold in your hands. Although the focus of this book is on the blankets, the book also provides a good amount of history of the Navajo Indians and other Native Americans, such as Pueblo, Hopi and Zuni. I imagine this book would be a good reference for anyone desiring to make this kind of blanket - copying the old original designs and colors. Size of this book is 10 1/4" x 7 1/2". 213 pages. There are 64 illustrations total, with half of these being full-page color plates showing the blankets. Most of the other illustrations are full-page black and white blanket photos, with some being some very nice B&W photos of Native Americans of the Southwest.
