Description: "Narratives of Indian Captivities: Incidents Attending the Capture, Detention, and Ransom of Charles Johnston of Virginia" is a 156 page, 5.5"x8.25" hardcover written by Johnston, with introduction and notes by Edwin Erle Sparks, and published in 1905 by The Burrows Brothers Company (Cleveland) in a limited, numbered edition of 267 copies (this being No. 175). In 1790 a band of Shawnee captured the author as he travelled down the Ohio River and held him for five weeks before he was ransomed; this is the account of his experiences and impressions of his captors. In good condition with stains to the cloth boards mainly at the top, edge wear including a short tear to the cloth along the front top edge. There are no internal marks.
