After August Rodin's (1840-1917) death, he was awarded the opportunity to put the sculptor's works in order and was greatly influenced by his techniques and style of drawing and watercolors. In 1931 he went to live in Six-Fours just above Sanary, where he painted the bulk of his works, including this one. Condition very good, light even toning/fading, laid to paper board; framing is from Wally Findlay Gallery, NYC and has had the linen renewed to the mat/liner and has minor blemishes and touch up to gilding of the carved frame.
