The colorful front cover is printed on 80# card stock and has been protected with a vinyl sheet. The 8.5" x 11" text is printed on quality paper, with two original pages on each sheet. Among the many subjects included in the 1892 excerpt are: Boundaries, Land Grants, Soil, Water Courses, Organization of the county, Original County Seats, Courthouse, Early Settlers, Agriculture, William Henry Hartley (picture), Fruit growing, Railroads, Irrigation, Crocker-Huffman Land and Water Company, C.H. Huffman, the Commercial and Savings Bank of Merced, the East Side Canal and Irrigation Company, the Chowchilla Canal, and Education. There is a section on Merced City, and another on "Other Towns" including Los Banos, Merced Falls, Snelling, Volta, etc. The Historic Spots excerpt concerns Rancheria Menjoulet, First Trails, Westside Trails, Rancho Centinela, Rancho San Luis Gonzaga, Rancho Sanjon de Santa Rita, Rancho Panoche de San Juan y de los Carrisolitos, El Arroyo de los Banos, Rancho Las Mariposas, the first "Cattle King of Merced," John Montgomery, the Courthouse Tree, Snelling's Ranch, Old River Towns, and the Old Stage Road.
