Description: Leroy Almon 1938-1997 spent much of his life in Columbus, OH working for Coca Cola. Later in life he became friends with Elijah Pierce who taught him the craft of wood carving. He primarily portrayed racism, political figures, religious subjects and the ongoing battle with temptation. Leroy returned to his hometown of Tallapoosa, GA in the 1980's. I met him in the early 1990's after discovering his work in a book about folk art. After my husband and I moved to Atlanta we often visited Leroy and his family. It was Leroy who encouraged us to pursue art as a career. This piece depicts the devil and angel wrestling and is in it's original condition. We downsized and came to the difficult decision to part with this piece as well as another one that is listed. It measures 24" x 10" x 1" Please look at the photos closely and carefully as I do not accept returns.Feel free to ask me any questions. All sales are final and payment is due within 48 hours of close of sale or item will be re-listed. Thanks for looking!
