Description: Sgian Dubh by Heather Gems unique kilt pin / brooch handcrafted from natural Scottish heather gems in a Scottish sword design.The photos are of the actual brooch you will receive and the colours are burgandy, light brown and dark brown.The brooch measures 98mm x 40mm and the cabochon Heather Gem stone measures 12mm x 12mm. How it is madeThe Scottish wild heather is picked then the stems are shot blasted to remove the bark. The cleaned stems are then dyed various colours in a vacuum chamber. The coloured stems are then mixed, put in a hydraulic press and compressed into a block. The heather block is then cut into slices and individual pieces are cut, shaped, filled and sanded by skilled craftworkers before being lacquered to give the final finish.
