Description: Anthony Quinn (1915-2001)Circa 1980s. From the infamous "Waikiki Center Art Galleries". In 1990 the gallery was involved in the biggest Art forgery case in U.S. history. Many of the gallery's pieces were proved to be forgeries and the owners went to prison for decades. The gallery had genuine contracts with numerous famous artists (Dali, Quinn, Skelton etc) and their originals were sold at federal auction to pay back 100s of millions in victim damages. It looks like the fraud case mostly focused on paper, poster-type photographic prints of the originals. Customers were told that the artists were artistically involved with the print process which sold at exorbitantly high prices. You will need to investigate further before deciding to make an offer. This is a superior giclee print on canvas (it has a paint-like texture). It's signed A. Quinn and numbered "D 111/250". We checked the signature with other prints in this limited 250 series and they vary so it appears to be hand signed. It is in near mint condition. We note a 3" surface scrape in his pants area. Can be left as-is but it's an easy fix by dabbing some clear semi-gloss acrylic with a Q-tip. Measures 62" by 42 1/2" to the outside of the Koa wood frame. Shipping is 'free' but, when making your offer, keep in mind it will cost us $1000.00+ to ship it. The wood in the Big Island (1980s), Koa wood frame is worth $1000 by itself!Whatever it is you're looking for, you'll find it on eBay. Shop eBay!
