Description: You are buying a used but in perfect working condition HP ProLiant DL360 Gen 9 server that is running the latest Synology Firmware (7.2) for DiskStation DS923+ under an ESXI 8 virtual environment. Though not supported by Synology, it is possible to run the DiskStation Manager software on your own hardware. For this installation I used a real serial number sourced from a broken DS923+ so you can register this device as a normal DS923+ under you Synology account. This server comes with dual 8 core E5-2640 v3 CPUs running at a base frequency of 2.6 GHz (3.4 GHz max) and 64GB of RAM. Of these, I allocated 16 vCPUs as well as 32GB of RAM to the Synology Virtual Machine. These values can be changed from the ESXI GUI as needed. The ESXi Hypervisor as well as the DSM VM are installed on an internal 64GB USB drive. In terms of hard drive support, this server has 8 bays (2.5" form factor) that can accommodate SAS-3 (12Gb/s) as well as SATA (6Gb/s) SSD or HDD drives. Seven of these bays are populated with 1.2TB SAS drives configured as a single SHR volume (6.2TB usable space). This is almost equivalent to having 2x8TB drives but with three times the throughput. Drives were assigned to the Synology VM using Raw Device Mapping so some knowledge of ESXi is required when changing drives. The last 2 pictures illustrate this process. As for networking, I assigned the two 10Gb/s Ethernet ports (far left pair) to the Synology VM. Port 1 (white cable in pictures) and Port 2. Port 1 is shared with the ESXi management network so it must be connected in order to access the ESXi GUI. The other 4 ports I left for the buyer to configure as needed. The other Ethernet port (Blue cable in pictures) is dedicated to the onboard management module (iLO). Among other things it can be used to remotely access and monitor the server (see pictures). Both the ESXi and the DSM Operating Systems are configured to receive an IP automatically (DHCP), so check your router for their IPs in order to access them. The login credentials for the ESXi GUI are root/Passw0rd and those of the DSM, sroot/Passw0rd*. The DSM virtual machine is configured to boot automatically, so you don’t have to do anything. Once everything is initialized, just point your browser to the DSM IP address (or nas/) and start using your NAS server as you would a normal DS923+. The pictures are of the actual device you will receive. Shipping to Continental US only, Thanks _____ * The iLO network is also configured via DHCP. Credentials can be found on the label affixed on the server chassis.
