Description: This beautiful medal is a faithful reproduction of the French Legion of Honor National Order, officer grade in silver with crown. It is France’s highest award for military and civil merit. The order was established in 1802 by Emperor Napoléon Bonaparte. The front of the five-armed “Maltese Asterisk” (star) has a profile of the emperor in a gold medallion ringed by the words “Napoleon Emp, Des Francais” (Napoleon, emperor of the French). The reverse has the imperial eagle in the center medallion and the motto “Honneur et Patrie (Honor and Fatherland) of the Order. This medal measures 38 mm across and 55 mm from top of crown to bottom of medal and weighs 22 grams. It is "ready to wear" and comes with the correct red ribbon with rosette denoting the officer grade. It has two mounting pins on the reverse.
