Description: This is a handsome early American pressed flint glass Ashburton pattern Goblet, likely originating in New England, about 1855. Its clear color and brilliant heavy glass , make it an eye-catching piece of American Victorian manufacturing. It is believed to have been made by The Boston & Sandwich Glass Co, and is one of the earliest recorded designs. The pattern “Ashburton” is first referenced in 1849. These mid-19th century examples of stemware are both exceptional in design as well as having been produced in superb quantity glass. It would be hard to find any glassware as fine as this antique goblet being produced today. I use my own collection of early American pressed glasses anytime I entertain.
