NOTES: (Wikipedia, with Google Translate) -- Sigurd Erixon began his long research career at the Nordic Museum in 1912 with the so-called village surveys. His main theoretical starting point, diffusionism, came to characterize large parts of his activities. He thus began the ethnological mapping of Sweden in order to find cultural areas, cultural boundaries and distribution routes. The work resulted in the large map work Atlas of Swedish folk culture which was published in 1957. In the book Swedish folk life in 1938, Erixon wanted to point to a new and more society-oriented folk life research. He thus wanted to broaden his interest in other social classes. One of Erixon's main works is the history of Skultuna mill in two volumes from 1935. Through his great work effort and solid knowledge, he gained an important role in European ethnological cooperation. Erixon was both the great and strong leader of Swedish ethnology during what could be called its period of construction, the first half of the 20th century. An entire generation of researchers has perceived him as a teacher and road clearer. After studying at the educational institution in Norrköping, Erixon became assistant professor at the Nordic Museum in 1914, and curator in 1924. In 1925 he became fil.lic. in Uppsala and file. honorary doctor in 1927.
