Commentaries on line: Though he's not the main character, it's always interesting to read about poor old Dr. Guillotin; the scene where they test the prototype of his infamous machine was done well. I might have enjoyed this story more if I'd read the previous books in the series; I had no idea it wasn't a standalone novel. Even so, this book was entertaining and I don't regret the time it took to read. "Don Sebastian, the vampire that is horrified by man!" I read this series years ago & loved it. Les Daniels does a great job of contrasting Don Sebastian "the monster", with the real historical evil of the Reign of Terror during the French Revolution.Sadly , Mr. Daniels passed away after writing only 5 books to the series. I recommend all of them, but I think this one (third of the series) is the best. Daniels is an impressive writer and I like everything he has done.
