Description: You're buying the double-sided rabbet plane shown in the photos. This type of plane is often referred to as a carriage, or coachmakers plane. This plane was carefully crafted from a Stanley #220 block plane, as can be easily seen in the photos. The blade is a hybrid of a nearly worn out Stanley 2" bench plane blade and a Stanley 220 adjustable blade (notched rectangle Logo) in similar condition. The result is a plane that can cut rabbet joints from either direction, similar to that of the Sargent rabbet block plane or the STANLEY #10 plane. This type of plane is also often used for cleaning up tenon joints. The plane shown was given a test run in pine and performed satisfactory.A RECENT PURCHASER HAD THIS TO SAY: " Quite interesting. I got it to clean up surfaces on tenons, and it should enable me to get right into the corners. Well done"Another purchaser is using it for white pine timber frame construction, cleaning up mortise and tenon joints.****The wood joint shown in the last 4 photos was made with this plane, shaving with both sides of the plane.****NOTE:: THIS PLANE IS SPORTING THE MORE RARE APPLEWOOD (I believe) FRONT KNOB AND THE OLDER AND MUCH FANCIER FIVE HOLE DEPTH ADJUSTING MECHANISM. As with any handcrafted tool, NO SPECIFIC APPLICABILITY OR RESULTS CAN BE GUARANTEED.Replacement blades can be manufactured upon request, though there may be a time delay based on parts availability. Contact me for price quote.Standard 220 blades can be inserted for normal plane work. I will be glad to answer any questions regarding setting up or using this plane, contact me through eBay.
