CARL GEYER CHICAGO 5-VALVE SINGLE Bb FRENCH HORN PROJECT FOR RESTORATION RARE

Description: Up for auction is a rare Carl Geyer Chicago 5-valve single Bb french horn. This french horn is not currently in playing condition and would benefit from a professional cleaning, additional work and/or restoration. There are loose braces and some visible dents throughout the body, slides and mouthpipe. The bell has signs of dent removal and the bell rim has been soldered at some point in time. There are scratches throughout from normal use and approximately 75% of lacquer is present(may not be original) with no patches. All slides and rotors move freely, except the thumb valve rotor which has some hesitation when depressed. Carl Geyer made approximately 1400 french horns in Chicago between 1903 and his passing in 1973 and not many of those were Bb horns. Included is a somewhat used and very old wood shell french horn case(old latches catch, old handle is intact, exterior is worn) and is fine for shipping but should probably be replaced. Also, a somewhat crude removable "thumbrest" was added at some point in time. The pictures are considered as part of the description and this is being sold in "as-is" condition!
