A GORGEOUS AND SEEMINGLY RARE SWISS DITISHEIM SOLVIL ET TITUS CHROMED AND STEEL ART DECO PERIOD DOCTORS WATCH. CIRCA 1930-40 SOUGHT AFTER STEEL CASED MANS WRIST WATCH WITH ITS ORIGINAL 15 JEWEL GENUINE FULLY TITUS SIGNED TOP QUALITY MOVEMENT WITH A LOVELY DIAL. CASE: This is an absolutely beautiful, and rare 2 piece genuine hinged back Art Deco stainless steel bezel and chromed case back watch case. The case is in good condition, showing only light normal wear marks and a few nicks to the bezel but more pronounced chrome wear to the case back. However, when the watch is on the wrist it is of no detriment. The hinged case back snaps to very well. The extended steel Art Deco design lugs are in very good order. The inside of the case is unsigned. The case measures 4 cms (40mm) in length including the lugs and 2.2cms (22mm) across excluding the crown. It is of good quality as you would expect from this prestigious watch manufacturer. DIAL: This is a wonderful unsigned beautiful GORGEOUS dial. The silvered dial is in excellent condition and is showing only some light marks here and there. All of the black painted bar numerals are beautiful and pin sharp. The dial has a gorgeous black outer minute 'Railway' track. As this is a Doctors watch it has the typical oversized sub second dial for checking the patients pulse, which is also in lovely condition The dial has 2 fantastic original black steel hour, minute and second hands which are in very good condition showing just a little oxidization here and there. The crystal is plastic and seems to be in very good condition. MOVEMENT: This is a wonderful genuine Solvil et Titus watch by the Paul Ditisheim factory and is a high grade quality 15 jeweled movement. It has' 15 jewels' and 'Swiss Made' embossed onto it in a lovely typesetting. This movement has just been oiled and timed by my watchmaker, is in working order and is running well. As always I would recommend a full service for optimum performance and continued operation and you buy the watch understanding this. I have timed it over 24 hours and keeps good time to within a minute per day at the moment. It winds smoothly and sets as it should. All in all this is a beautiful original movement. The crown is white metal in color and is in good order. BAND: This is an excellent brand new black leather 16mm band for this watch. As such it is in minty condition and compliments this gorgeous Solvil et Titus wristwatch superbly. THIS IS A FANTASTIC ORIGINAL AND EXTREMELY RARE DOCTORS WRISTWATCH IN GOOD ORIGINAL CONDITION. This watch has recently been checked. However, shipping can be unkind to watches. I do check the watch to be certain it runs when the watch is listed and re-check the watch before it is shipped (making a video of it in working order). There is no warranty on the running and considering this is a vintage watch, it is possible that an adjustment or more servicing may be necessary.
