Description: This is a Ducks Unlimited Big Sky Carvers stylistic Wood Duck Drake Decorative Decoy. it is signed on the bottom by (What appears to be) Kristy Dunn and has " Wood Duck" written underneath her signature. It has an unusual brand for Big Sky Carvers as it has the words, Ducks Unlimited Home Furnishings by Big Sky Carvers-Manhatten, MT. Anyway, It is a wonderful representation of a Wood Duck. It appears to be intended to have an antique look as there are dents that appear to be part of the original carving. (And at least one that has occurred later.) The Decoy is about life-size, being 13.5 inches from beak to tail. It is 7.5 inches tall, 5.5 inches wide, and weighs one pound, 13 ounces. We have had a number of Big Sky Carvers Decoys over the years and love their work, but have not encountered one quite like this one. Photos give a good description. Note that the head is attached after it was carved and that the eyes appear to be wood dowels rather than glass. It is not dated but the Company moved from Boseman, MT, about 20 miles to Manhattan, MT, in the early 90's so it was made after that move.
