BEST Antique Early 1800s Wooden DOCUMENT BOX Wood Trunk w PATINA Square Nail 15"

Description: Here is an amazing, very old Document Box, that probably spent 100+ years in a hot attic. The wooden box had a reddish brown paper covering, or paint, with varnish, but age and especially heat, bubbled the varnish, so now it is a bubbly black-textured patina. When I purchased this, I considered restoring the box, but decided to leave as is. It is so cool. Small, square head nails, and mortised-in riveted hinges are the hardware. You can see inside-front where the latch mechanism was removed. Has a keyhole in front, but key is long gone. Inside wood is clean, dry, NO odor or mustiness. SIZE: TOTAL: Approx 15" long, 11 3/8" wide and 8 1/8" high. All measurements to the best of my ability to measure. CONDITION: Box is in good, old condition, see above. NO odor. Hinges are a bit loose and one rivit is missing. Inside latching mechanism is gone. There are areas where paint or paper is worn through to wood. Edge and corner wood chipping, as befitting a box of this age. Typical scuffs, scratches, dings, etc to wood and old finish. Please look at all the pictures. Please see my other items listed. .
