Many are from early performances when revisions were common and include song titles that were cut before opening in New York ........ This is a rare December 11th, 1954 "Playgoer" playbill from the Pre-Broadway tryout and WORLD PREMIERE engagement of the JOSEPH STEIN, WILL GLICKMAN and ALBERT HAGUE musical comedy "PLAIN AND FANCY" at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut. (The production would open January 27th, 1955 at the Mark Hellinger Theatre in New York City and run for 461 performances.) ..... The ensemble cast included BARBARA COOK, RICHARD DERR, DAVID DANIELS, SHIRL CONWAY, STEFAN SCHNABEL, DANIEL NAGRIN, GLORIA MARLOWE, DOUGLAS FLETCHER RODGERS and NANCY ANDREWS ..... CREDITS: Book by JOSEPH STEIN and WILL GLICKMAN; Music by ALBERT HAGUE; Lyrics by ARNOLD B. DETAILS: The 40 page playbill measures 6" X 9 1/4" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, synopsis of scenes, list of musical numbers, bios of each of the leading actors and wonderful vintage advertising, but no cast photos ..... CONDITION: With the exception of minor edge wear, this rare playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian.
