Description: DESCRIPTION- A lozenge-shaped antique Victorian wedding/engagement ring box, estimated circa the mid to late 1800s. This ring box is covered in maroon-coloured leather and lined with ivory-coloured silk and cream-coloured velvet. It would add a unique touch to your proposal, engagement shoot or wedding ceremony or accompany a treasured piece of jewelry. MARKSOn the interior, in black lettering: “WATCHMAKER & JEWELLER.SACAR28. King William St.BLACKBURN.” (Note: No additional information is available on this jeweller.) MEASUREMENTS- Length: Approx. 26.1 mm- Width: Approx. 30.8 mm- Height: Approx. 31.8 mm- The ring slot can accommodate a ring with a narrow to wide-width band (up to approx. 5.6 mm)- Note: The size of the ring slot is not adjustable, as antique ring boxes were often handcrafted with either a wooden or a pressed card structure and intended to accommodate a specific piece of jewelry CONDITION - Overall, the ring box is in beautiful antique condition and still enjoyable for many more years to come. It bears signs of wear commensurate with age and use. Surfaces have marks and scratches that one would expect in a piece of this age. These ‘imperfections’ add character to the piece rather than take away from it- There is some wear/loss to the leather, including scuffs and marks- The interior is clean and does not have any unpleasant scent- There is light wear/loss to the silk and velvet, including marks and discolouration- The hinge, catch and push-button closure are all intact.
