Antique German Bisque Doll Simon & Halbig 550 w/Gimbel Brothers Compo Body

Description: This listing is for an antique German bisque doll recently purchased from a local doll auction. She was made by Simon & Halbig in the early 1900s. Her socket style head is fine bisque with blue paperweight glass sleep eyes. She has painted upper and lower eyelashes and glossy brown multi-stroke eyebrows. Her lips are light pink with a faint red outline and she has four upper teeth. She has red accent dots in her nostrils and she has rosy pink cheeks. Her ears are not pierced and she comes with her original blonde human hair wig that is glued to the head. She is marked "550 Germany Simon & Halbig " on the back of her neck. Her body is stamped "Germany Gimbel Bros." in red on her back. She stands 23" tall. She is dressed in old clothes but I don't believe they are original as they are slightly too big. The drop waist dress is made of fine cotton with lace and embroidered lace trim and pleated details. There is a wide pink replacement ribbon around her waist. Under the dress, she has antique pantaloons and petticoat. Her socks are ribbed knit and she has cloth shoes with floral appliques. Her ball jointed composition and wood body is original to the doll. Condition: There is a finger broken on each hand and there are small pieces of composition missing around the knee joints. There are some cracks in the composition and some evidence of old repainting. There is wear, stains, tears and missing buttons on the clothing. The shoes are faded and frayed.
