Antique Early English New Hall Porcelain Coffee Cup & Saucer Cobalt & Gold Leaf

Description: Antique Early English Porcelain COFFEE CUP & SAUCER SET, ca. late 1700s to very early 1800s. Unmarked. I attributed it to New Hall, but it could be another British brand. The set is hand painted with cobalt band on the rim and gold leaf branches in the arched garland design, and finished with a gilt trim. Condition: there is a wear to the gold and other signs of use (fine utensil marks type) predominantly in the center of the saucer and on its gilt trim. The cup has a very small 1/16" x 1/16" flake/chip to the rim, otherwise, in a very good to excellent condition. The set's white porcelain has a faint blue tint especially notable in some light on the inside of the cup. Some imperfections due to the manufacturing process of the times are present, such as dark dots of "ash marks" and approximately 1/16" x 1/8" bluish colored blob on the inside bottom of the cup. There is a partial glaze-free line on the underside of the cups' foot, indicative of the hand made process of the late 18th century. Approximate measurements:Cup is 2.5" H, 2.5" diameter of the opening at the top, 3.25" W with the handle at the top, 4 oz capacity;Saucer is 5 3/8" in diameter, 1 1/8" H.
