Antique Au Départ French Steamer Trunk w/ Original Trays, circa 1910 Paris

Description: Circa 1910 trunk by the French luggage maker Au Depart, with brass fittings and leather trim. Trunk's original cotton interior lining has visible staining and wear. Both removeable wardrobe trays are present and intact. The original checkered woven canvas skin that covered the trunk looks to have been removed decades ago, leaving only a couple small strips that remain visible on each end of the trunk along the rim. Some leather edge binding also missing from the front-facing edge of the trunk's top cover. Part of the front lock clasp is missing as well. Structurally, this trunk is still in good condition with no liquid damage or warping to its wood components, and a perfect specimen to restore and bring back to its original glory. Last picture shows a nearly identical trunk by Au Depart (but in better condition) that is currently listed on 1st Dibs for $26K. Please see all pictures as they are part of the description.
