Description: A small perfume shop of M. Maugenet & E. Coudray was established in Paris around 1810. Edmond Coudray, a doctor-chemist, traveled the world bringing back exotic raw materials. He established the perfume house of Edmond Coudray in 1822 and became the perfumer of choice for British royalty and the imperial aristocracy of France. Coudray Parfums remained the family business until 1908 and are still available today. We have this delightful 1890s example from this company standing 3” tall and 1 ½” in diameter. It is embossed “E. COUDRAY A PARIS” with an oval frame. The glass has a wavy whittled effect and the neck is slightly crooked coming to an oversize lip. Inside the neck has been ground so that a glass cork would fit. There is a slight haze here and there, but it is very clean and just simple and elegant. There is no damage. This style is hard to find and a great addition to a perfume collection.
