Description: This assembly was removed from a mult-million dollar semi-conductor inspection machine. The wafer being inspected was rotated by a gantry which floated on a 6” thick german milled granite slab that these air bearings used to apply the air pressure to support the gantry. The shiny steel part was mounted to the gantry and the ball held tension on the air bearing while allowing it to slightly move if needed as it floated on a cushion of air.
